I do think that immature idiotic people have finally conquered the planet. Seriously. Either that, or I am completely missing the point of offence in the casual quiz made by a certain "Mr Neo" about "Which Elite Secondary School Are You From?"

I logged on Facebook today, and saw this quiz, ""Which Singapore Non-elite School Do You Belong To? [27/04/09 The Straits Times, IN Section by Amanda Tan]" " flashing across the bulletins. So, semi amused. And curious, I decided to do the quiz and read up on the article & the debate. 

Let me begin on the article & debate first. It complained about:

1) Leaving out elitist in "non-elite" schools.

2) Making the people in "non-elite" schools feel inferior.

3) The traits can be possessed by students of a "non-elite" school too.

4) The quiz is not entirely accurate.

5) Coming from a "elite" school doesnt give you bragging rights.

From, my personal point of view. I thought to myself, " Hahahahaha, okay silly people, what is with all these hullabaloo about a mere quiz made up by a bored person on a "slow sunday afternoon"? 

1) Whoever said anything about "non-elite" schools being unable to produce top students, look around you. The school that produced 2 top students, catholic high, wasnt even in that list. The top girls school under ranking, Mgs, isnt in that list too. Does that make them "non-elite"? Or inferior in any manner or way? Not one bit, because this is merely, and very solely in essence, a quiz made for entertainment, and not something to be taken seriously.

2) Whoever said anything about "elite" schools have bragging rights? Like one person so rightly points out in the debate, do not confuse the "elite" school people, from elitists. If there is such a thing as elitist in "non-elite" schools, "elite" schools are definitely not the manufacturers of elitist, are they. Elitist is a attitude, not a culture. Do not mix them up. 

Okay now about the quiz. This was really the dumbest part of it all which made me stare at it in amusement. Of how degrading they put themselves to be, after being so uptight about "non-elite schools" too, having the traits which the "elite schools" possess too. And the "elite schools" should not call those traits their own. 

Here are some of the questions and answers, yes I did it out of pure fun, because, it is merely just a quiz, so why not. nothing to get uptight about. I got beatty secondary. EILEEN'S ALMA MATER! HAHAHAHA. Okay back to this, the questions, were degrading themselves, seriously. Here's a few.

Which of the following talents do you wish to have?

- Devising escape plans 

- The ability to endure hunger (suggests that student is held back during recess.)

Which of the following is your school slogan likely to be?

- For a violence free tomorrow (suggests rowdy fights in and out of school)

- Budget budget, thats our name, Always on it thats our game

Which of the following sends shivers down your spine?

- None, I only fear the provision shop auntie who has my school number on the speed dial. (Suggests shoplifting)

- Hair checks, I might be a repeat offender. ( suggests unkempt attire in school.)

Just a few for the record, and people. If you're so against the elitist looking down on you, here are some tips. Do not give answers that, possibly suggests the involvement of, violence, shoplifting, long and unkempt attire, being held back during recess by the teachers. Because though its all in the name of fun, i agree, but if so many of you are so irritated that elitist think they have the superior mentality. 

Dont give them the image that you have the inferior mentality. Because that, is just plain stupid huh. One moment you say you are not to be looked down upon, the next, you suggest that your school probably participates in shoplifting, fights and what nots. Quite silly isnt it?

Hahaha, okay i am done ranting with the contradicting people of the planet. I would totally post this on the debate, but apparently i have to sign up to something. And I am not wasting my time to argue this once on this point. Cause elitists dont do that. Nsks do. Tsk.
